San Joaquin County Probation Department’s New Website

by | Feb 27, 2024

The Client:

The San Joaquin County Probation Department provides probation services for San Joaquin County in California. The department was experiencing challenges in hiring new applicants as well as a poorly designed website through the county’s portal.

The Website Problem:

Steve Jackson, the Chief Probation Officer, wanted to connect with the community through a robust, easily navigated website. Chief Jackson wanted to use social media to show the great work his team does, and drive traffic to the website where visitors could learn more about what the Probation Department does for the community. However, the county provided website fell short of expectations, and was not user-friendly.

The Website Solution:

Using our expertise and personal knowledge of what the department and chief needed to accomplish their goals, TOC Public Relations designed and developed a modern website which provides easily-accessed resources, information, and news. In addition to this, TOC is providing on-going consultation services with the department’s PIOs and social media personnel.

The Results

“Just like many Probation Departments throughout California, we were struggling to find a way to connect with the community and change our image, as well as attract new candidates. Too often, people don’t understand the unique balance of law enforcement and social services role that our officers perform, and the individualized care we take in the supervision of our clients.

TOC Public Relations built us an amazing website that shows our true intentions of helping people get a new start in life, while also protecting the community. The website also showcases the great work and programs operated by our personnel, thus leading to an increase in morale and esprit-de-corps.

We have also retained Tamrin and her team on a contractual basis, to augment our social media team and PIOs. I like that they frequently check in on our team to see if there’s anything they can help with, and I really like that they make in-person meetings with us.

What’s most impressive is they take it personally to make us the best we can be. They consider our wins and losses as their wins and losses. I appreciate that thinking.”
