Gripping recruitment video highlighting teamwork and technology in action captures attention of potential applicants.

Feb 17, 2025 | Recruiting, Social Media, Video

For the second time, a TOC Public Relations produced video earned a nomination from Police1 for one of the “top police recruitment videos.” The video, which has garnered nearly 70,000 views on YouTube alone, was crafted with a clear purpose: to showcase the department’s mission, teamwork, and innovation while attracting a diverse pool of candidates who share the department’s commitment to service.

“To have our video recognized on this stage — and to know it’s inspiring potential police candidates — is truly an honor.”

Roxana Kennedy

Chief of Police, Chula Vista Police Department

Storytelling Approach

One of the standout features of this video is its storytelling approach. Instead of presenting dry statistics or traditional recruitment tactics, the project employs a narrative that captivates and inspires prospective applicants passionate about making a difference. It features officers, dispatchers and analysts collaborating on an intense kidnapping call, using cutting-edge technology and equipment to keep them safe and better protect and serve the community.

Visuals play a pivotal role in the effectiveness of the video. The TOC PR production team captured dynamic footage of personnel in action, giving a professional yet realistic and vivid picture of what it means to be part of the Chula Vista Police Department.

The recognition from Police 1 highlights the growing recognition of innovative recruitment strategies that effectively engage potential candidates. The Chula Vista Police Department’s video stands out not only for its creativity but also for its alignment with contemporary policing. In an age where societal expectations of law enforcement are evolving, this creative serves as a model for other police agencies.
